Oro councilor: No Padayon ‘help’ for Guialani

CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Leon Gan said Monday, October 24, the Padayon Pilipino party will not support former Taglimao village chairman William Guialani elevate the complaint against mayor Oscar Moreno to the Supreme Court.

Gan said the party of former mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Emano has taken notice of Guialani’s statements regarding the latter’s difficulties in funding his continuing legal battle with Moreno.

Gan said Emano and other members of the party have been at odds with Guialani after the former village chief filed graft charges against them following the New Wishing Star Corporation-City Hall lease agreement in Carmen market in 2012.

"Walay possibility kay in the first place not in good terms si Emano and Guialani including some other councilors from the Padayon,” Gan said.

Gan, however, admitted that Guialani had sought legal advise from him after the Court of Appeals (CA) issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to prevent the execution of an Office of the Ombudsman dismissal order on Moreno stemming from a 2014 Ajinomoto tax settlement agreement.

On October 13, the CA likewise reversed the Ombudsman ruling dismissing Mayor Oscar Moreno and City Treasurer Glenn Bane for the same Ajinomoto tax deal.

"After nag issue ang CA og TRO, didto gapangayo og advise si Guialani kay bag-o lang pud mi nagkauli after na dismiss and kaso sa wishing star," Gan said.

"Dili mi manghilabot kay basin unya mapolitika, kay ingnon naay nagpaluyo kang Guialani nga in the first place voluntary ni kang Guialani," Gan added.

But Gan said Guialani should pursue and continue his "crusade."

"Mas maayo nga ipadayon ang kawsa nga iyang nasugdan kay kining tanan ang tinuod alang lamang sa katawhan sa dakbayan. Kay ako nagtuo nga sa kaulahian mogawas ra ang tinuod nga hustisya."

Moreno reiterated on Monday his suspicion that Emano is the mastermind of the demolition job against his administration.

"Kabalo man ko nga dili man siya ang kontra, siya lang ang nipirma pero grupo man ni Dongkoy ang nagbuhat ato. We're giving Guialani too much credit, although of course, siya ang nagpirma pero ang nagreklamo ang grupo ni Dongkoy, kabalo man ta ana," Moreno said.

Moreno, who arrived Sunday from a United Nations sponsored conference in Vienna, Austria , spoke on the sidelines of a thanksgiving mass he offered following the favorable decision of the CA.

"Although there will be more battles but what is important is you'll realize that you have learned that experiences have made you stronger," he said.

Moreno said that since he started his political career as congressman, it is this point that is the most difficult of all.

"Since I started my political career, kini ang pinakadako nga pagsulay. Well we know of course that this is a highly-urbanized city and ang leadership dinhi is the target of many, dili malikayan naay mga challenges, no matter how baseless, illusional, pero naa gyuy pagsulay," he said.

"But above all, what's important is that I learned to be courageous in public service for the people of Cagayan de Oro," Moreno added.
