Tzu Chi Foundation's medical mission cited

THE Davao City Council lauded the 215th Medical Mission of the Tzu Chi Foundation that as held here from November 4 to 6.

Committee on ethics and good governance Councilor Jesus Melchor Quitain Jr. said that the foundation held its mission at the Davao Chong Hua High School and the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City.

Quitain said that the City Council lauded and thanked the Tzu Chi Foundation for providing the much-needed medical care and attention to 7,000 residents from Davao City, Cateel in Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, and General Santos City.

He added that the foundation has provided medical and eye consultations with free medicines and eyeglasses for the young and old; dental services; acupuncture and surgeries for goiter, cataract, hydroceles; varicoceles and hernia.

"Tzu Chi Foundation continues to dedicate itself in the fields of medicine, education, environmental protection, spiritual, preservation, giving charity, showing compassion and aid to those in need all over the world," Quitain said.

The Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization that aims to relieve the suffering of those who are in need and to create a better world.

Dharma Master Cheng Yen founded the foundation in Taiwan and brought it to the Philippines in 1994. (ICT)
