HOMEGROWN restaurant, Blue Posts Boiling Crab and Shrimps vowed to support crab and shrimp growers in Mindanao.
Anthony Ang, chief operating officer (CEO) of AA Group of Companies, the firm that owns Blue Posts Boiling Crab and Shrimps, told reporters at the sidelines of the opening of its newest branch in SM City-Annex, Ecoland, Davao City last Friday that they recognize the huge contribution of the growers to the booming aquaculture sector, hence, their intensive support to the growers.
Blue Posts restaurant sourced their crabs and shrimps largely in Mindanao particularly in Zamboanga and Surigao.
“We are supporting small local farmers growing crabs and shrimps, we are financing them by giving them capital. Through this, all their produce will be sold to our restaurant, no need for them to export,” Ang said, adding that they are buying the products in a higher, competitive price.
At present, the company is supporting seven local growers in Mindanao.
Ang added they are eyeing to strike partnership to those growers in Mati City, Davao Oriental for this year.
The restaurant is also starting to source products from Samar and Bulacan to meet its growing demand.
The homegrown restaurant is conquering the national market expanding operations in Visayas and Luzon and strengthening its market position in Mindanao.
At present, the restaurant, has five branches, three in Davao City (J.P. Laurel Avenue, Lanang Biz Park and its recently-opened branch in SM City- Annex) and two in Manila (SM North Edsa and its newest branch in SM Mall of Asia).
Its SM City-Annex branch located at the ground floor of the mall opened last Friday while the Mall of Asia branch open today, January 23.
Its newest branch in Davao has a 278 square meter area with a 150 seating capacity and a function room.
By the end of year, Ang said, three more branches will be launched, one each in O-Square Greenhills Shopping Center, Seascape Manila, and SM Megamall.
Most of its branches outside Davao City except Greenhills are franchised.
For this year, Ang shared, they will concentrate in penetrating the Manila market. On 2018, the company is planning to enter the Visayas market.
“We never thought ganito pala kalaki ang pagtannggap ng market even outside Davao City, but we are thankful and challenged at the same time. Maybe because we are teaching people the proper way of eating crabs and shrimps, the messy and fun way, that is why they are patronizing our restaurant, not to mention we’re offering only of quality food products,” Ang said.
Asked on the restaurants monthly consumption, Ang said, for its two branches in Davao City in 2016, they are consuming 1,000 kilos per month on an average.
Sea to table Experience
Established since December 2013, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps introduced to the Davao market a unique dining concept-boiling bag concept.
Within the graffiti drawn walls of the restaurant, dining with one’s hands was highly encouraged to get that full feel of a fun and messy eat adventure.
A food-grade wax paper is set before you accompanied by a Blue Posts bib. Diners can choose from a wide roster of seafood placed in a boiling bag mixed with their signature Blue Posts Cajun Special Sauce with adjustable heat factors (regular, mild or spicy hot), all of these are guaranteed fresh, specially picked for their customers from sea to table.
Accompanying their entrees were sides of corn cobs, boiled potatoes, and sausages, all enough for customers to keep coming back for more.
Alongside these freshly caught dishes are the #ProudlyDavao dishes such as Native Chicken, Sinuglaw with Green Apples, and Pomelo Salad.
From their small beginning in Davao as a bar back in the 1990s to a now full-grown restaurant, the journey of Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps continues, something that is worth watching.
Moving forward, Ang shared that they are looking at the proposals by a prospective Canadian partner investor.
