Dumpit appointed as new Ermita village chief

CEBU City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has appointed SPO1 Adonis Dumpit as acting barangay captain of Ermita starting tomorrow.

This, following the six-month preventive suspension of Ermita Barangay Captain Felicisimo “Imok” Rupinta and all councilors of the village due the complaint filed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on their alleged failure to cooperate in one of the anti-illegal drug operations.

Osmeña said Dumpit remains to be the most-feared policeman.

Although he commended the efforts of Councilor Dave Tumulak in volunteering to be the caretaker of Ermita, Osmeña said he is overqualified for the position.

“I think Dave is more than qualified and he’s done an excellent job but I have decide to let Dumpit do it. It’s not an easy decision but the main issue is drugs,” the mayor said.

Osmeña said that drug lords in the barangay are more scared of Dumpit compared to Tumulak.

He said the suspension period of Rupinta is the only time for the City to clean up the barangay from illegal drugs.

Osmeña said he already talked to Dumpit about the matter, who agreed to take care of Ermita as his contribution in the fight against illegal drugs in the community.

The mayor said he will still tap Tumulak to help Dumpit in running the barangay in whatever way he can extend.

Tumulak is also the deputy mayor for police matters of Osmeña.

Aside from the two, Osmeña said Atty. Winefredo Orcullo Jr., the city market administrator, will also help barangay Ermita.

As to the official documents of the barangay that require the signature of the village chief like the payroll of the workers, Osmeña said he will have to sign it.
