A SPECIAL investigation task group was formed to look into the killing of an environmental lawyer in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
The lawyer, identified as Mia Manuelita Mascarinas-Green, 49, was shot and killed by four gunmen while she was onboard her vehicle on her way home at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday, February 15.
Tagbilaran City Police Chief Nicomedes Olaivar Jr. said Mascariñas-Green was killed on the spot, as she sustained seven gunshot wounds, mostly on her neck.
The incident happened at Purok Dos, Zamora Street, Dao, Barangay San Isidro in Tagbilaran.
Police recovered from the crime scene 27 empty shells of caliber .45 and 9mm.
"Pag-abot sa corner, gi-blockan sta sa XRM nga blue, unya ang assailant sa isa ka grupo naghuwat sa eskina ug lain pud tong nag-tail niya o nagsunod nga maoy nag-serve as back-up. Unya, mao tong nahitabo gyud ang pagpamusil," said Olaivar.
"Premeditated gyud to. Plano gyud to nga operation gyud to nila para ma-accomplish ang ilang pagpatay ni Attorney," he added.
He said the gunmen fled after the shooting incident, while the lawyer was brought to the nearest hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Olaivar said the Bohol Provincial Police Office created the special investigation task group to probe the killing. Members of the group include personnel from the National Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and Tagbilaran City Police Station. (SuperBalita Cebu/SunStar Philippines)
