CEBUANO speedster Khazart William “Khaz” Romoff received four awards in the 14th Annual Golden Wheel Awards Ceremony at the SM Aura Premiere in Taguig City last Saturday night.
The 10-year-old karter was feted for being the 2016 Asian Karter of the Year Formula HQ cadet overall champion, Formula Cadet Novice Ultron overall champion and the Cebu Club Race overall champion. Romoff bagged his fourth recognition for the night after receiving the Jose “Boy” Ochoa Memorial Award for excelling last year. The award has been given by the Golden Wheel Foundation since 2013, in honor of the late Jose Ochoa, the father of actor Dominic Ochoa.
The older brother of Khaz, Keondre “Keon” Clarence, was also awarded for finishing second runner-up in the X30 Jr. Blaze Race.
Khaz, a fourth grader in Paref Springdale, made waves in the country’s karting scene after wins in various races last year. His biggest triumph came after winning the overall title in the 2016 Asian Karting Open Championship Seriers in Macau last December.
