CEBU Pacific (CEB), one of the leading Philippine airlines, vows anew to support Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS) 2017, Davao Region's largest travel event and tourism campaign.
Speaking in the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony among CEB, VDFS 2017 executive committee and Department of Tourism (DOT)-Davao Region at the Waterfront Insular Hotel-Davao on Wednesday, April 19, CEB corporate communications director Charo Lagamon said that for this year's partnership takes on an advocacy angle -- promote Davao Region as a tourism hub.
"CEB takes pride in having the most flight to and from Davao City. But more than that, we have to do our share for promoting tourism in the region," she said.
To highlight Davao, the airline will bring in 18 international bloggers/vloggers and digital influencers to spotlight the destination in the global arena.
These digital influencers, Lagamon said, are from top international tourism markets like Singapore, South Korea and Japan.
"It is important to invite international bloggers so they can show to the world what Davao has to offer," she said.
CEB has partnered with VDFS since the campaign's birth last 2014.
For this year, Lagamon shared that some P4.5 million was allocated by the airline for the VDFS event.
DOT-Davao regional director Roberto Alabado III, for his part said, bringing in bloggers would elevate marketing and promoting initiatives for the city and the whole region.
VDFS vice chair Edmund Mayormita said the digital influencers, who are expected to arrive in the city on Thursday, April 20, will visit and experience the cities of Davao, Mati and Samal.
For Davao Oriental, six bloggers will explore Dahican Beach, Mt. Hamiguitan and enjoy the Summerfrolic Party 2017.
Launched in 2014, VDFS has helped push tourism growth in the region to double digit levels, capping 2016 with 100,000 tourist arrivals.
VDFS 2017 runs from April 16 to May 31.
