THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Bukidnon said on Thursday, April 27, that their office is beefing up security after the arrest of Al Mohammar Bayani in Malaybalay City.
Bayani is the nephew of a suspected Abu Sayyaf member Renierlo Dongon who is said to be married to Superintendent Maria Christina Nobleza, the owner of the house in Malaybalay City where Bayani was arrested along with two minors Monday evening, April 24.
The CIDG-Bukidnon team leader, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said they are not discounting the possibility that Abu Sayyaf terrorists would rescue Bayani.
The policeman said the CIDG has already requested additional personnel to ensure against the success of any rescue attempt.
"That's our standard operating procedure," the CIDG team leader said.
The CIDG-Bukidnon official also said they have prepared an "airtight" case against Bayani.
"We can't avoid na mag-worry (worrying) considering the possibility na irescue nila ito kasi asset nila ito sa grupo nila or hanapan nila ng butas ang kaso para ma-release ang suspect (that they'd rescue him because he's an asset in their group or they'd find a loophole to release the suspect)," the CIDG official said.
"Pero we will make sure na hindi mangyayari yun (But we'll make sure it won't happen) that's why we exerting all our efforts to make this case air tight," the CIDG official added.
Authorities had said that it was possible that terrorists were preparing to exploit Bayani’s engineering know-how to make bombs.
Bayani has been presented to the court and was given 10 days to file his counter-affidavit along with Nobleza.
The search yielded firearms, ammunition, explosives and components including documents containing terror plans.
