Dining on the brighter side

WHO wouldn’t want to step into the brighter side of life?

Browsing through my Facebook timeline, I came across a page that garnered an interesting number of likes which prompted me to click and check it. I was looking for a place where I could try something new to eat as I was already hungry and hadn’t even taken lunch last week. Then came the page of The Bright Side, a new restaurant located at JJ’s Commune, Loyola St. in Obrero.

I was intrigued after checking out dishes and desserts they had posted on the page and was also driven by my hunger to go and see the place for myself. Another thing that enticed me was that Obrero is really a place that hides a lot of surprises for me since it is home to various food establishments and bar which I was eyeing to visit. So, I decided to hit one of the lists.

Judging from the shared posts about the resto, I surmised that their Smores is really good but I was only craving rice and a viand that time so I opted to buy their chicken skewers as it was the only meal on the menu which had accompanying rice.

As I entered the place, their staff immediately welcomed me enthusiastically… hhmmm… I thought I had just stepped into another realm as I was really feeling gloomy before going there but the place just emits a bright aura that I couldn’t help but feel amused.

It didn’t take long for me to finally have my order as they really serve food at a reasonable speed. I like the yellow rice that came along with the chicken skewer as it reminded me of the famous yellow rice we used to eat in Mindanao State University-Marawi back when I was still an undergrad. I also love the idea that they served fruit shakes as it would help me avoid drinking soda as I am really smitten into it but since I know that it’s not healthy to always intake it, fruits and fruit shakes and drinks would be my sweet escape. When I went there, I had a glass of Melon shake, which I really love because the sweetness is just subtle but in a good way.

I surveyed their menu and thought that I should come there next time with my favorite friends and try out their dessert or perhaps share a bottle of wine with them over hearty meals and conversations. I figured it’s good to come there in a group as the place seemed to be designed for group diners judging from the way they arranged their tables and chairs. But for loner diners, it is still a good place to be. I can say that because I went there alone.

Overall, the resto is promising and I look forward to visiting it again with the pack.
