Baguio water firm to consumers: Air complaints in proper platform

CUSTOMERS of the Baguio Water District (BWD) are advised to course their complaints through proper channels of communications and not leave grievances only on social media platforms.

BWD General Manager Engr. Salvador Royeca reminded the public not to rely solely on Facebook or other social media influences to air their water supply problems.

Royeca acknowledged the role of technology as an outlet for quick information these days. However, with regards to providing prompt and proper action to various concerns and complaints, he advised the public to directly relay their concerns though accessible and official BWD contact information.

“Expressing complaints over social media might seem like a quick fix, but in order and to really provide actions to any related problem, proper and detailed reports must be conveyed to our office,” Royeca said.

Royeca pointed out messages left on unofficial social media platforms are not being monitored and accounted by the office thus, instead of instituting the appropriate remedial or corrective measures on the water supply concern it would remain a problem.

“Aakalain ng mga tao (People will think) we do not want to take actions on their complaints,” he added.

In a recent monitoring conducted by the BWD, it has been validated many of the local consumers air their grievances on a certain Baguio Water District Facebook page. However, such complaints are not recognized as the water utility has already disclaimed owning or managing any social media account.

While the lone water utility in the city has turned to decrease the gap of communication between them and their customers, entertaining complaints through social media is still under construction.

Royeca said most, if not all, of the complaints related to the city’s water services need more than simple Facebook posts to be given solutions.

“The people of Baguio should take into consideration the difficulty of supplying water to around 40,000 water connections. The BWD wants to continuously improve its service and we can only do that if the general public will be also become involved and are willing to help,” Royeca closed.

Customers with any water supply problems or difficulties are advised to personally visit the BWD main office at No. 003 Utility Road, Barangay Marcoville, DPS Compound.

They may also call the 24/7 hotlines at (074)442-4929 and (074)4423218, or reach them through mobile numbers (0922)840-9765, (0908)865-1504, (0917)679-4929, leave their messages and concerns at the website www.baguiowater or personally visit the Office of the General Manager. (PR)
