POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas Director Noli Taliño confirmed in a press conference Thursday, June 8, that Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel was killed, her body thrown into the sea.
The mayor's body has not yet been found, and Taliño said they will conduct a search operation in the area where Gisela's body was dumped.
"Accordingly, from Bien Unido, bineyahe at sinakay sa bangka, and then accordingly, binaril at tinapon sa dagat, but as to who is the real gunman, ay hindi pa klaro hanggang ngayon. Malalaman natin sa follow-up investigation na ginagawa natin ngayon," he said.
The alleged mastermind, Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel, is now in the custody of the Regional Intelligence Division after he was flown from Bohol to the PRO-Central Visayas on Thursday.
The board member is Gisela's husband.
"As of this time, apat na suspects ang arrested na, including the husband, plus isang person of interest," said Taliño.
