Village chief eyes purchase of solar electrical vehicles

ANGELES CITY -- A village chief in this city has bared plans to acquire solar electrical vehicles in line with the government’s environment programs.

Reynaldo Nacu Gueco, chieftain of Barangay Malabanias, said the initiative will encourage people to lessen the use of fossil fuel and stop global warming.

Gueco, a former leader of transport group in Central Luzon, said that solar and electric vehicles are good alternatives to cars using petroleum.

A solar vehicle is an electric vehicle powered by completely or significantly by direct solar energy. Photovoltaic cells contained in solar panels convert the sun’s energy directly into electric energy.

“Kung solar vehicles na ang gamit ng mga tao walang pollution. Imagine yung maiingay at mauusok na mga motor mawawala na,” Gueco said.

The village chief said that the solar-powered vehicles are more economical in terms of energy use and maintenance.
