Zamboanga City lawmaker hosts ‘Pagbukah’

FIRST district Representative Celso Lobregat invited people of different faiths and cultures in Zamboanga City to join the Muslim community in the “Pagbukah” or the breaking of the fast on Monday, June 19.

The hosting of the breaking of the fast is in line with his objective of sustaining and displaying harmony and unity among people representing different faiths, culture and beliefs. It will be held in one of the local hotels in the city.

Lobregat said the “Pagbukah” or Iftar activity typifies the strong and harmonious relationship between Muslims and Christians in Zamboanga City towards the promotion of dialogue and peace.

“Together with our Christian brethrens, I am one with the Muslim community in the celebration of faith and harmony in the city, we must co-exist with each other to have a peaceful Zamboanga City,” he said.

The lawmaker has been an advocate of promoting Muslim-Christian relationship, one of which is by way of sponsoring this sunset meal called “Pagbukah” during Ramadan. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
