DAVAO City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio said there were no lapses on the part of the police or the army following the incident where suspected members of the New People's Army torched 10 heavy equipment in three different locations in the city last Saturday, March 31.
The mayor said during a case conference with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), City Engineers Office (CEO), and Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) that the security units in the area where the incident happened cannot be blamed because there was no proper coordination from the contractors to the security units.
"Wala tay nakita nga lapses sa atoang mga security units, ang nakita nato is lack of coordination between our contractors and our security units operating that areas," Duterte-Carpio said in an ambush interview on Thursday, April 5.

The mayor has ordered the CEO to list down all the contractors who are involved in road widening projects in the city for their attention to be called on informing the authorities.
For his part, DCPO director Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said there is really a lack of coordination and responsibility of heavy equipment owners on getting their own security guards.
Initial investigation showed there was no one guarding the equipment in Barangay Callawa and Barangay Fatima in Paquibato and Barangay Dalagdag in Calinan, Davao City.
Damage from the incident was estimated at P65 million.
