Bacolod crimes down by 25.47 percent in 15 days

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) released a report Tuesday, April 17, showing a decrease of 25.47 percent in criminal incidents in the city from April 1 to 15.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of BCPO, presented the statistics to the media in a press conference at the city police headquarters on April 17.

The BCPO recorded 79 incidents this year compared to last year's 106, covering the same period.

For index crimes or eight focus crimes, 29 cases were recorded this year compared to last year's 37, with a decline of 8 or 21.62 percent.

Of the eight focus crimes, theft has the highest incidents with 12; physical injuries, 7; robbery, 6; rape, 4; and murder, 1.

No homicide, carnapping and motornapping cases were recorded this month.

For non-index crimes, BCPO has recorded 119 cases with an increase of 16 or 15.53 percent from last year's 103 cases.

Ebreo said police initiated operations this year reached 40 as compared to last year's 28, with an increase of 12 or 42.86 percent.

On their accomplishment against illegal gambling, 29 operations were conducted by BCPO with 83 arrested persons and 29 cases filed.

Ebreo said they are more focused on the campaign against illegal gambling because of the reports they received recently but they are also still intensifying their anti-illegal drug drive.

For anti-illegal drugs campaign, 90 operations were conducted that resulted in the arrest of 18 persons and eight cases filed.

A total of 258.8264 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were seized amounting to P3,882,396.

On Oplan Tokhang, four persons were visited and 12 were revisited, with one newly-identified drug surrenderer.

In their campaign against wanted persons, four most wanted persons and 16 other wanted persons were arrested. (GYM)
