Green tea with July

“HELLO, July. Come in; have green tea with me,” I told my early visitor.

“Thank you, Lilith, I sure will,” July replied.

“I like taking it with this fine Japanese hopia. How do you find the aroma of green tea?”

July inhaled the steam coming from her cup of tea. “Hmm, it reminds me of newly mown grass after the rain. The smell is clean and refreshing, matching the taste.”

“Some people hate the taste of green tea, which has a bitter hint. But nutritionists say green tea is the better choice of tea as it has many health benefits—” July interrrupted me.

“That’s my department. I’m Nutrition Month. Your source is right. Green tea is said to lower risk of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases; it helps improve brain function; and may lower risk of certain types of cancer.”

“You know, lately I’ve noticed that almost every kind of fruit and vegetable has been attached to some kind of health benefit. From apples to zucchini, someone has something to say about their good side,” I said.

“People have become more aware of their bodies than ever, I think. And people want to find cure for every disese without having to spend too much. That’s why I like being No. 7. I wouldn’t want to change places with June or even December. I passed by six moons and talked with six different months and all of them had their complaints, woes and losses.”

“And you don’t?”

July shifted in her cushioned wicker chair. “I have my bad days, but seven is a great number and I carry an important advocacy that aims to train people to be more disciplined in their food choices.”

“Just curious; why is seven so valuable to you?”

“There are many beliefs about seven, but the one I like most is the fact that God rested on the seventh day after creating the earth. So seven represents rest, perfection, security and safety. It’s the aim of Nutrition Month that people would be so wise in their food choices they can rest well, have perfect health, feel safe (from many diseases) and secure (with their finances because of little medical bills).”
