A CORDILLERA boxing promoter will once again be honored by the World Boxing Council Asia Oriental as the best promoter for 2017.
Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Promotion will be conferred the prestigious award during the WBC Asia and WBC Muay Thai Annual Awards on April 30 at Asia Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Santig was informed by Police Gen. Kovid Bhakdibhumi, WBC vice president and president of WBC Asia in a letter for his great contributions to the promotion of boxing in the region in 2017.
Also this year, seven boxers who train with Highland Boxing Gym were among the honorees during the 18th Gabriel “Flash” Elorde Boxing Awards and Banquet of Champion at Okada Manila recently.
Last year, Santig was also named the “World Boxing Council Asia Honorary Promoter of the Year 2016.”
WBC has cited the Benguet native Santig for his outstanding performance in promoting boxing under the WBC banner for 2016.
In 2015, Santig received two major awards from two prestigious boxing organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Santig was conferred for the first time the “2015 Promoter of the Year” award by the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation and the “2015 Promoter of the Year in the Asia Pacific Region” by the WBC-Asia Boxing Council. (PR)
