3 NMRAA cage teams make q-final round at Palaro

ALL of Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) basketball bets displayed impressive showings on the third day of action of 2018 Palarong Pambansa in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

On Wednesday, NMRAA’s secondary boys and girls and elementary boys basketball teams advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective categories of the prestigious Palaro.

“Dakong kausaban karon sa NMRAA basketball kay tanan tulo sulod sa quarterfinals sa kadaing kategoriya,” said NMRAA elementary boys head coach Rene Ilogon.

(There is a big improvement because all NMRAA basketball teams qualified for the quarterfinal round in different categories.)

All of them landed second in their respective divisions, but just enough to make it to the quarterfinals.

NMRAA secondary boys team of coach James Racines alarmed the field in their division after pulling a clean start with a 3-0 win-loss record before absorbing their first defeat against Calabarzon during their last game of the elimination round.

“It’s ok as long as we are still fighting for honors. Positioning nalang to’ ang amoa,” said Racines, who is best remembered for guiding the Assumption Montessori School (AMS) Jaguars to the NBTC national finals for two straight years.

Racines is so proud of the current result as it surpassed last year’s feat with coach Carlo Dagalea at the helm.

Its younger counterpart mentored by Ilogon struggled from a 1-1 card in the elementary boys elimination round.

But they qualified in quarterfinals after defeating MIMAPORA in their last elimination match.

Both Racines and Ilogon’s teams will face tougher teams from Western Visayas in the top-8 round, still in progress as of this writing.

NMRAA’s secondary girls of coach Agustin Yasay also occupied second spot in their bracket and will face Central Luzon in the quarterfinals.
