Franchise group offers opportunities for micro, small businesses

PHILIPPINE Franchise Association (PFA), the country's pioneer franchise association, is on its last leg of a three-day event at Centrio Mall’s Activity Center that presents opportunities to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Cagayan de Oro through franchising.

Dubbed as "Franchise Negosyo," a business matching, expo and seminars, the event aims to reach local businesses, such as the MSMEs, that are planning to grow through franchising and among others.

"To make Philippine franchises dominant in the Asian market, PFA continues to strengthen the growth of the franchise sector by helping our members become globally-ready and by helping MSMEs grow through franchising," PFA president Richard Sanz said.

Sanz added that the PFA supports MSMEs with capacity building, mentoring, sharing of best practices and providing access to markets through the expo.

"We bring Franchise Negosyo to regions to promote franchising as a tool of economic development, for generating enterprises, and nation building to as many Filipinos in the provinces," Sanz said.

The three-day event started with a seminar on "How to Franchise Your Own Business" for existing business owners on Wednesday, April 18; while a two-day expo, dubbed "Franchise Negosyo para sa CDO," was launched on April 19 to 20.

The expo featured over 30 brands from food, retail and service sectors. It includes: Beanleaf Coffee & Tea, Bibingkinitan, Citrus Zone, Dencio's, Famous Belgian Waffles, Farron Cafe, Jamba Juice, JM Shawarma, Kambal Pandesal, Kerrimo, Max's, Minute Burger, Mr. Potato, Pancake House, Sizzlin' Steak, Snack-A-Ttack, Teriyaki Boy, Waffle Time, Yellow Cab, 7-Eleven, Aquabest, Crystal Clear, Diana Stalder, Living Water, SOS, Bayad Center, Canadian Tourism and Hospitality Institute, Laundrybest, Phoenix Petroleum, Quicklean, Rapide, and Xcess Salon.

Seminars on "How to Invest in the Right Franchise" were also held on the same days as the expo for aspiring franchisees as well as business matching.

The PFA also encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners to attend the expo to discover huge opportunities in franchising as well as meet franchise executives who will be sharing best practices in franchising as well as finding the right franchise.

Franchise Negosyo para sa CDO is in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Northern Mindanao, DTI-Misamis Oriental, Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.

Philippine Franchise Association is currently the secretariat of the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation and a member of the working committee of the World Franchise Council, whose task is to create activities that will advance franchising globally.
