Matteo invites runners to join charity race, help kids

TRIATHLETE and TV actor Matteo Guidicelli has invited running enthusiasts on Wednesday to join the World Vision charity race on July 16, in Cebu City, in a bid to help poor children.

Guidicelli, a World Vision ambassador, invited fellow Cebuano runners to support the activity that aims to provide livelihood projects in Sogod, Cebu.

"World Vision supports very, very good things, so we are very blessed here in Cebu. Cebu has the fastest runner here in Asia. We also have fast marathoners here in Cebu. So panagan mo ha? (So you guys should also run)," Guidicelli said during Wednesday's press conference at Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City.

World Vision, a humanitarian organization focused on providing and assisting the needs and rights children, targets to construct a multipurpose building and provide livelihood start-up kits such as vegetable production, hog or chicken raising, food processing, among others, to poor families in the said northern Cebu town.

World Vision program manager Faith Sy said that "if blessed with a good raised amount, then this will go to livelihood projects in Sogod."

The run also aims to raise awareness of World Vision's campaign to support programs and people who are working to end sexual exploitation of children.

The charity race, set at Cebu Business Park on July 16, will have four categories: 21 kilometer (21K), 10K, 5K, 3K.
