Man faces gun raps in Compostela Valley

A MAN is facing charges before the Provincial Prosecution Office in Compostela Valley after he was found possessing a loose firearm in Nabunturan town on April 20, Friday.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 10591 or The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition in relation to Comelec Gun Ban, is Richard Odias Gono, a farmer.

Record obtained from the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region showed that the suspect was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Friday at Purok 6 in Barangay Poblacion in Nabunturan.

A concerned citizen earlier reported to the policemen over a man carrying a loose firearm within the area. Recovered from Gono’s possession was a caliber.357 revolver loaded with four bullets.

The suspect and the recovered evidence are now in the custody of the Nabunturan Municipal Police Station (NMPS).

The Commission on Election is imposing a gun ban for the duration of the election period, or from April 14 to May 21.

According to the Comelec, during the election period, bearing, carrying, and transporting of firearms and other deadly weapons and the purchase of the services of security personnel or bodyguards will be strictly prohibited.
