LINGAYEN -- Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III has ordered localized cancellation of classes in the province due to Tropical Storm Gorio which has intensified into a severe tropical storm enhancing occasional heavy rains over the western section of Luzon.
Espino, however, said that based on the last monitoring of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), as of 9 p.m. of July 27, most parts of Pangasinan are not affected by the storm and only some areas in western Pangasinan have experienced heavy to moderate rains.
On Friday, Espino called on all the municipal and city mayors to use their discretion for localized cancellation of classes.
He advised all DRRMOs in the province to stay alert, particularly in towns along the 14 coastal areas of Pangasinan.
Some 22 towns and cities of Pangasinan, including Dagupan City, have declared suspension of classes from pre-school to high school as of 9 a.m. Friday. (PNA)
