Pimentel swears in Alvaro as new PDP-Laban member

CLARK FREEPORT -- Senate President Aquilino Pimentel, Jr. recently administered the oath-taking of a prominent Kapampangan businessman as member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Dr. Irineo Alvaro, Jr., a former councilor of Angeles City, formally took his oath as PDP-Laban member in a simple ceremony at the historic Senate Building last July 26, 2017.

“In behalf of our Chairman, President Rodrigo Duterte along with the national officers and members, I, being the Party President, hereby welcome and congratulate Dr. Bong Alvaro as he joined us in this historical journey for our nation,” Pimentel said.

Alvaro, a self-made man is highly respected by his constituents as he continuously contributes in the socio-political and socio-economic development of Clark Freeport and its localities, according to the senator.

Business, religious, civic-oriented groups, the academe, private individuals as well as local officials persuaded Alvaro to join the PDP-Laban.

“I take pride and humility as a new member of PDP-Laban, founded and merged by the two pillars of Philippine Democracy, Senators Nene Pimentel and Ninoy Aquino,” Alvaro said.

He added that he joined the party on the ground that it seeks a peaceful and democratic way of life as characterized by freedom, solidarity, justice, equity and social responsibility, self-reliance and efficiency, enlightened nationalism and a federal system of parliamentary government.

“Oathtaking is a solemn vow. I vow to the tenets, principles and philosophy of this party as it drives the nation towards a brighter and better future for all us, I don’t want to be on the wrong side of history,” Alvaro said.

Alvaro was a three-termer city councilor and a former city administrator before he ventured into developing world-class hotels and resorts in Clark.

PDP-Laban was the same party that catapulted the late President Corazon Aquino to the presidency three decades ago.
