Cebu police office to help search for Peter Lim

CEBU (Updated) -- Personnel of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will help the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Central Visayas in locating Cebuano businessman Peter Lim, who was charged for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

CCPO Director Joel Doria said any information that his personnel, including the intelligence operatives, will get about Lim will be given to CIDG.

A team from CIDG-Cebu Province led by Chief Inspector Chuck Barandog served a subpoena on Lim on Tuesday afternoon, August 1, at the businessman's residence in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City, asking him to appear before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila.

Lim's security guard Antonio Rosellosa received the subpoena an hour later.

The DOJ, in an earlier report, ordered Lim to answer the complaints on August 14 and 17 in a preliminary investigation for violation of Section 26, paragraph b, pertaining to conspiracy on selling drugs in Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Doria said if Lim will ask for security escorts from CCPO, only Police Director Ronald dela Rosa can decide on the matter.

CIDG-Central Visayas Director Royina Garma said they will send copies of subpoena at Lim's business offices.

Aside from the subpoena intended for Lim, Garma said they also received five subpoenas from DOJ: three John Does and for slain drug lord Rowen Secretaria.

Garma added that they are part of the case build-up against the politicians and police officials identified as drug protectors by President Rodrigo Duterte.

CIDG, she said, is tasked to look into the financial statuses of these personalities.

Garma said some government agencies they tapped to help them in their investigation are not cooperative with them, but they will find ways to gather information. (SunStar Cebu)
