MOKABAT 6,000 ka kilos o 224 ka sako sa basura ang nakolekta kagahapon atol sa Earth Day Clean-up nga gipahigayon sa Lower Calajoan ug Tungkil sa lungsod sa Minglanilla, habagatang Sugbo.
Ang maong lakang nga gipasiugdahan sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 pinaagi sa Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENR) Office Cebu City, ang maong aktibidad gisalmutan kini sa 700 ka mga partisipante gikan sa nagkadaiyang local government units (LGUs), private sectors, academe, national government agencies ug ubang hingtungdan.
“Our country is highly regarded in the world for the richness of its coastal and marine resources and it calls for sustainable protection and management for our future generation,” matod ni DENR 7 Regional Director Gilbert Gonzales.
Ang maong aktibidad subay kini sa obserbasyon sa Earth Day 2018 nga aduna’y tema nga “Green the Cities, Green the Oceans - End Plastic Pollution”.
Sa report nga gisumiter sa CENRO Cebu City, dakong porsyento sa basura ang nakolekta nga mga plastik, lakip niini ang sachet sa shampoo, straws, plastic bags ug diapers.
“Plastics take 20 to 100 years to decompose, it is high time for us to stop plastic economy by choosing reusables and biodegradable alternatives,” awhag ni Gonzales.
Gawas niini aduna usab laing mga aktibidad sa pipila ka parte sa rehiyon lakip na ang magrove planting, clean up sa siyam ka mga dapit sa Central Visayas. (HBL)
