AN ESTIMATED P94-million worth of properties were destroyed in a six and a half hour fire that razed a commercial establishment in Zamboanga City, a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) official said.
Chief Inspector Clint Cha, Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) marshal, said the fire broke out at 10 p.m., Wednesday, August 9, and was contained around 4:30 a.m., Thursday, August 10.
The fire razed the Maker's Sales Center owned by the Unirich Corporation, the owners of which compose of Taiwanese businessmen.
The sales center, which is located along Governor Camins Avenue in the village of Camino Nuevo, sells different kinds of dry goods including house and kitchen wares.
Cha said they exerted all efforts to contain the blaze within the sales center since the adjacent establishment is a gasoline station.
The fire marshal said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire that reached fifth alarm level.
"The investigation is still ongoing," he added. (SunStar Philippines)
