Capitol Park generates P1-M income in 2017

THE Provincial Capitol park, also known as the McArthur Park, generated some P1 million in 2017, according to the report by the Clean and Green Maintenance of the Capitol.

"Dili ko makatoo nga ang atong parke mikita og dakong kantidad nga wala man kini mikita kaniadto (I cannot believe that our park was able to collect a large amount when it didn't earn much before)," Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano said.

According to Lorna Guibone, head of the capitol's Clean and Green Maintenance, the P1,104,108 worth of income came from the fees collected like the parking fee, rental fee for the vendors, comfort rooms, and among others.

"Kung tan-awon among buhatan, ang among mandate sa Clean and Green Maintenance mohimo og janitorial work ug pagpagwapa sa capitol park apan dili lang diay mi expert niana tungod kay (The mandate of the clean and green maintenance is to do janitorial work and beautify the capitol park. However, those are not the only things we do,) we gathered and collected P1,014,108 for the year 2017 and remitted it to Provincial Treasurer's Office," Guibone said.

Provincial Information Officer Nicole Managbanag said starting last week, the vehicle owners who park their cars in the capitol grounds were required to pay P10 per hour instead of P2.

Managbanag added that all Provincial Capitol car-owner workers are also required to pay P300 for a year-worth of parking fee.

The fee for using the comfort room in the capitol park also increased from P2 to P3.

"So mag expect pa nang more increase sa kita ng capitol park (expect that there will be an increase in the income generated by the capitol park)," Managbanag said.

The rental fee is collected from the 20 to 25 vendors situated in the capitol park, wherein the amount depends on the space used, from P10 to P30 per day.

Emano commended capitol's Clean and Green Maintenance after he received the report on Sunday, April 22, saying that the capitol park wasn't able collect this kind of amount under the previous administration.

"Imagine you were all able to earn more than a million pesos as income for the Provincial Capitol which I have never heard previously nga dunay kita atong parke. Karon lang makita sa atong katawhan nga tataw, dayag ug dunay kasihag ang imong pagpamunoan isip punoan nato sa maintenance sa kapitolyo probinsyal (that the park was able to generate income. It is now that your efforts as the Provincial Capitol's head maintenance is apparent to everyone)," Emano said.

Guibone said it was only during her management in the later part of 2016 that the income of the capitol park was monitored.

"Sa management ko lang ‘yun na-monitor ang income. Ginawan namin ng matrix para makita araw araw ang income (It was only during my management that the income was monitored. We made a matrix so that everyday, we can see how much is the income generated)," Guibone said.

Emano also expressed his gratitude to the maintenance staff, saying that he is planning to add more people to the provincial's Clean and Green Maintenance so as to improve more of their services.
