Tell it to SunStar: The Bible’s purpose

THE bible contains the history of God’s people. We have to study how they behaved in the past; how they angered God by their wrongs, crimes and sins. We study the past in order to improve the present and perfect the future. We study the past so that we will not be bound to repeat bad history.

If you call the Bible the good news, you are misrepresenting it and distorting its contents.

Dishonest preachers from organized religions are misusing the Bible to brainwash naive members. They were made to concentrate on salvation, Judgement Day and Jesus’s second coming and overlooked the real purpose of the Bible.

The eternal teachings of the Bible, like the true teachings of Jesus, are for the people to make the world a better place for all inhabitants. What really matters are Jesus’s true teachings that he preached during the first coming.

The purpose of the Bible is for us to know the defects of the past so that we won’t repeat them. Jesus died only once. His death is a historical fact. His teachings are eternal truths.

We should not lie about the significance and meaning of Jesus’s death. He did not die for our sins nor to save the world. He died for sticking to his true teachings that are overlooked by the present religions.--Chito E. Germino of Paknaan, Mandaue City
