Bzzzzz: Kris blames Korina for Duterte win

BLAST VS. MAR’S WIFE. TV-movie star Kris Aquino has blamed Korina Sanchez, wife of defeated 2016 presidential bet Mar Roxas, for his loss. Kris posted: “It’s clear now why it was Duterte who won,” not naming Korina but clearly referring to her. Kris complained that the former ABS-CBN news anchor ran an ill-timed feature about Kris’s ex-husband as a “deadbeat father.” Kris then later apologized to her brother Noynoy, Mar Roxas, and Mar’s mother, who is Kris’s godmother, for her rant.

C.A. Justice blames cancer

P100,000 FINE. A Court of Appeals justice who was accused of violating judicial ethics when he was charged with gambling in casinos cited what he thought was a heart-rending excuse: he had terminal cancer.

Normandie Pizarro didn’t get away with the gambling charge but he was not dismissed for the more serious accusation of corruption. He was fined only P100,000, small change compared to his reported gambling losses.

The graft charges were the subject of a letter to the Supreme Court but the proceeding against him dwelt only on his gambling.

He was the “ponencia” of the C.A. ruling that stopped the investigation of former Palawan governor Joel Reyes, accused in the killing of Dr. Gerry Ortega in 2011. He also wrote the decision that acquitted Janet Napoles of the charge of illegal detention in May 2017.

Pizarros indiscretions allegedly included travels abroad with his mistress for shopping and casino binges. He got an early retirement last February.

Raymond’s ‘i’m sorry’

WOULD MAYOR SUE? Cebu City Councilor Raymond Garcia’s apology, which Mayor Tomas Osmeña reportedly demanded or he’d sue for libel, may not be what the mayor expected. “I’m sorry,” Atty. Raymond posted on his Facebook wall, “you are not as intelligent as you lead Cebuanos to believe. I’m sorry you’re incompetent in the last 30 years you haven’t the foresight to fix the garbage and traffic problems. I’m really sorry that we have you as a mayor.”
