POLICE arrested a woman who allegedly livestreamed two girls performing sexual acts on a foreigner inside her house in Sitio Salvage, Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday.
The woman reportedly offers to livestream the sexual activities of two 14-year-old girls to tourists in exchange for money.
Police, in coordination with the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) and the International Justice Mission, acted on a tip about the suspect’s illegal activities.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect pimped the children online inside her home.
Police seized the smart phone used by the suspect.
The woman will face complaints for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9208, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and RA 9775, or the Anti-Child Pornography Act, in relation to RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Lawyer John Tanagho, IJM Cebu Field Office director, said that online sexual exploitation traumatizes and shames children, brainwashing them to believe that their bodies are meant for another person’s pleasures.
“There will be no letup in rescue and arrest operations until Filipino children are protected from this serious crime and traffickers are restrained. They should stop on their own before they get life imprisonment,” Tanagho said in a statement.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 7 took custody of the rescued girls.
The victims will be referred to an aftercare shelter. (GMD)
