Police to file multiple raps vs 3 Cuadra rob group members

THREE suspected members of Arnold "Aki" Cuadra robbery group will face multiple charges for their involvement in the series of robbery and hold-up incidents in Bacolod City and the neighboring cities of Talisay and Silay last Friday.

Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said on Sunday that charges for robbery with physical injuries will be filed against Johnny Villarete, 31 and Alvin Jimenez, 25, both of Barangay Bata, and their unidentified companion, who is at-large.

The three suspects were positively identified by one of the three workers of a softdrinks company whom they attempted to rob in Barangay Mandalagan, and hit with a firearm when the victims failed to give them money.

Before the incident in Bacolod, the same suspects also robbed a pharmacist in Silay City, but only 22-year-old Paul Martin was identified by the victim.

However, they will all face separate robbery charges since they reportedly belong to the same robbery group.

The three suspects were arrested in a hot pursuit operation led by Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of Silay City Police Station, in coordination with Senior Inspector Jun Rey Batadlan, head of Police Station 3 in Bacolod City, in Barangay Bata on Friday evening.

The police tracked down Villarete’s gray vehicle which they used as a get-away car.

Aside from robbery charges, Villarete will also face charges for illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs after police confiscated from his house during the operation six sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), drug paraphernalia, P900 cash, a .45 caliber revolver with six live ammunition, a homemade shotgun, 31 empty cartridges of .45 caliber, an electric drill, and his gray Nissan Almira vehicle.

All three suspects are detained at Police Station 3.

Wanky said they sent the photos of the three suspects to Talisay City Police Station, Police Stations 4 and 8 in Bacolod City where a series of robbery incidents took place allegedly perpetrated by the same group.

“This is part of our case build-up and follow-up investigation to determine if indeed the same suspects were behind the robbery incidents committed in the areas of the three police stations,” he added.

Wanky said Cuadra cannot be located in the city as of now and is probably hiding somewhere, but the tracker team of the BCPO is doing its best to hunt down Cuadra and his other members.

Moreover, Police Station 5 head Sherlock Gabana said they still have no lead on the identities of the killers of Rodney Mavilla, 26, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, also a member of the Cuadra robbery group.

Mavilla was found dead last Friday morning in Barangay Garanada with multiple gunshot wounds. His hands and legs were both tied.

A placard was seen beside his body with the words, "Ako si Tabby, myembro sang Aki Cuadra Group nga drug pusher, holdaper, carnapper nga naga igo sa syudad sang Bacolod kag malapit nga mga syudad" (I am Tabby, a member of Aki Cuadra group. I am a drug pusher, holdupper, and carnapper that operates in Bacolod City and neighboring cities).
