A NOD to the city’s vibrant art scene, SM City Davao staged the Kadayawan Mural Painting Contest last August 14 at the Annex Event Center.
Ten groups of 3-5 artists joined the competition which allowed them to translate their visions of Davao on an upcycled 8x8-ft canvas. They were given 6 hours to complete their works of arts.
Judging the artworks were Tabulara Rasa’s Dinky Munda and Daryl Descallar along with SM Davao’s Mall manager Lynette Lopez and Assistant Mall Manager Engr. Nick Santos.
Bagging the top prize with their work themed “Laag Dabaw” are Perry Lequigan and his team. On second place is “Sadya Dabaw” by Aprille Golimlim and her team. While “Matahom Dabaw” work of Leo Patos and team won third place.
Winners took home cash prizes of ten thousand pesos for the Grand Prize, seven thousand pesos (2nd Place) and five thousand pesos for the 3rd place, while non-winners took home two thousand worth of SM Gift Certificates.
All the artworks were on public display at the SM City Davao’s South by Mouth at the Open Parking until August 18.
