TARLAC CITY -- Governor Susan Yap recently led a tree planting in support of the greening program of the National Government.
The project dubbed “Samyo at Yamang Kalikasan” of the Provincial Government was conducted along the main highway of Mayantoc town, recently.
Yap was accompanied by Vice Governor Carlito David, Mayantoc Mayor Iluminado Pobre Jr. and members of the Mayantoc Municipal Council in planting around 2,000 ilang-ilang and narra trees.
Yap said the Provincial Government will plant trees in all of the 17-municipalities and lone city of the province.
“We will be planting trees in the entire province and we will reforest all denuded areas,” Yap said.
The governor said the best way to capture air pollutants and carbon dioxide is to plant trees.
The Provincial Government is targeting to plant more than one million trees in the next two years.
The vice governor, for his part, said the program is aimed to ensure that there will be clean air and a healthy environment for the next generation.
“We have to reforest for the benefit of the next generation of Tarlaqueños,” David said. (Ric Sapnu)
