DSWD validates cash grant beneficiaries

THE validation of the list of possible beneficiaries of the unconditional cash transfer (UCT) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is ongoing.

DSWD Regional Information Officer Ivan Eric Salvador said the validation is to ensure those who will benefit from the UCT are poor but not beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and social pensioners.

Salvador said they have tapped the services of 492 enumerators to do the validation in the region, which is set to be completed before the end of May.

He said so far there are already 147,498 possible beneficiaries identified through the Listahan or the National Household Targeting for Poverty Reduction (NTHS-PR) survey.

The Listahanan is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are in the country.

Salvador said that each of the beneficiaries of the UCT will receive P200 monthly for this year, which will be released in lump sum amounting to P2,400.

In 2019 and 2020, each of them will receive P300 monthly, which will also be released in lump sum amounting to P3,600.

The grant of the UCT is stipulated in Section 82 of Republic Act 10963, otherwise known as the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) law, to provide cash grants to poor households and individuals who may not benefit from the lower income tax rates but may be adversely affected by rising prices of goods.
