DAVAO City is more than ready to host Palarong Pambansa 2019, Davao City assistant administrator on operations lawyer Lawrence D. Bantiding said in an interview at his office Monday.
Standard facilities, nice headquarters and security of delegates, according to him, earned the nod of the Palarong Pambansa Board 2018 for Davao City's hosting of the annual Palaro. The good feedbacks from the participants and guests during the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet also gave a plus point on the city's bid.
“It is our pride that we will be hosting the Palarong Pambansa 2019. It was more than 60 years since we last hosted Palarong Pambansa and as Dabawenyos, we are proud that we can showcase what Davao City has,” he added.
He also said that facilities used during the Davraa Meet will also be maintained and developed especially the shower rooms to give comfort to the delegates.
Bantiding added that the City Government is hoping that President Rodrigo R. Duterte will again grace the opening of the Palarong Pambansa 2019 just like what he is doing for the past two years.
The Palaro hosting, according to him, will have a positive impact to the city’s tourism and its economy.
He, however, did not mention the budget that the city will spend for the hosting. But Bantiding assured that city government will give its full support. (Brisbane Q. Titular, Father Saturnino Urios University intern)
