AN auxiliary traffic enforcer in Iloilo City was dismissed from duty after he was caught red-handed allegedly receiving money from a public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver.

Iloilo City administrator Hernando Galvez said they witnessed the unlawful act of the traffic officer, whose name was withheld for the protection of his family.

Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said they received several reports from informants that some traffic enforcers in the city accept bribes from drivers who violated traffic rules.

Conlu, however, said that these informants requested anonymity and declined to execute an affidavit.

“If there will be actions and evidence pertinent to the suspected government worker, I will automatically remove that employee,” Conlu said.

Galvez warn erring traffic enforcers, as well as drivers who give bribes, that they will face the full force of the law.
