Cruz is Eastern Visayas' new top cop

CHIEF Superintendent Gilbert DC Cruz formally replaced the newly-retired director of the Eastern Visayas Police Regional Office during a change of command ceremony in Palo, Leyte, on Wednesday, August 30.

Cruz succeeded Chief Superintendent Elmer Beltejar, who served Eastern Visayas for 13 months.

Cruz, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1986, used to be the director of the Police-Community Relations Group in Camp Crame.

Beltejar on Tuesday thanked the public's support during his stay as the region's top police officer.

Beltejar, a member of Philippine Military Academy ‘Sandiwa’ Class of 1985, steered the Eastern Visayas police into the massive war against illegal drugs and insurgency to attain peace and security in the region. (SunStar Philippines)
