Roadhouse Cafe: No longer just a pit stop

RESTAURANT chain Roadhouse Cafe, held a VIP Night for invited guests on August 31 at the Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro City, to drum beat its plans to open a third restaurant in the city and to announce the opening of a 3-star hotel in Valencia City.

Sanndflor Cagampang, operations manager of Roadhouse Cafe, said the restaurant chain plans to open a cafe at SM Downtown Premier called Tirso’s. Cagampang said the name was derived from the name of the patriarch of the Montesclaros family, the family that owns MM Hospitality, Incorporated which in turn runs the famed restaurant chain.

This October, MM Hospitality Inc. will also open Double M Hotel in Valencia City. Valencia City is Bukidnon’s financial center and it is also where Roadhouse Cafe, which was long known to travelers as a quaint road-side restaurant with great food, started 17 years ago.

Double M Hotel will house four restaurants and a lounge at the fifth floor. It will also be a place where cafe products such as sausages, breads, coffee, meat, pasta, and pastries can be bought.

Cagampang said they are also trying to carve a bigger niche in the local restaurant scene.

“Some have the impression that this restaurant is expensive. We would like to erase that,” she said.

"We guarantee that the food here is delicious and worth every peso you pay for,” she added.

Albert Chiu, Roadhouse Cafe executive chef and head of food and beverages, said the food at the restaurant began as favorite fare for its owners and their friends.

"The first-ever food on the menu is the bulalo. As the chef I played with the ingredients to create more recipes,” Chiu said.

"I am more on Filipino food. It is easy for me to create one recipe but I have not forgotten how Filipino food should taste like," he said.

Chui said as part of the restaurant’s services, Roadhouse now accepts catering services, although still only for customers in Valencia City.

The restaurant chain is growing and both Cagampang and Chui see the company putting up more branches in Mindanao, and perhaps elsewhere .

At its core, however, both agree that the restaurant chain will always be true to its owners’ core belief to create top quality food and to render attentive service to each diner.
