Patrol unit, advisory body launch 'balik disiplina sa kalsada'

CAMP OLIVAS -- Plan “Balik Disiplina sa Kalsada Disiplinadong Driver” was launched recently by the Highway Patrol Unit (HPU)-Central Luzon and its Regional Advisory Council (RAC).

The launching was held at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Malolos City, said Superintendent Ruel Moreno, deputy regional chief of HPU-Central Luzon.

At least 1,000 participants from seven provinces and cities in Central Luzon attended the activity, said Moreno.

The program started with a registration of different motorcycle riders association, organizations, clubs and transport groups.

Moreno made the welcome remarks followed by an overview of the program given by Chief Inspector Leilani Garcia, chief of operations. Garcia emphasized that the program is a pilot project of Highway Patrol Group (HPG) director.

Disiplinadong driver aims to decrease and prevent future road crashes if discipline and road courtesy is inculcated in road users and vulnerable riders.

Pat Cunanan, vice chairman, HPU-Central Luzon RAC, also talked about riding safety tips.

The launching was highlighted by the mass oath-taking of the road safety marshall ambassadors. It was officiated by Chief Superintendent Arnel Escobal, director of HPG who was the guest of honor and speaker.

In his short speech, Escobal encouraged the participants to advocate and inform the public about the program. (Ric Sapnu)
