18-year-old boy nabbed for carnapping

MASANTOL -- An 18-year-old boy was arrested by elements of Masantol Municipal Police Station for his involvement in motornapping incident through a follow-up operation conducted on April 22.

Masantol Police Chief Julius Javier said the victim, Merwin Manansala, 31, initially sought the assistance of the local police when he noticed that his motorcycle parked in front of their house was missing.

Upon receipt of the report, the policemen presented to Manansala the rogue gallery of persons previously involved in the same case, and the victim positively identified a person he allegedly saw at their place before the incident.

Policemen then conducted a manhunt operation in Barangay Sta. Lucia where the suspect, identified as “David,” is reportedly residing.

Recovered from the suspect in Sitio Smith was the motorcycle owned by Manansala.

The suspect, together with the recovered evidence, was brought to the said station for further investigation.

A case for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 will be filed against the suspect.
