P10-B housing set for Marawi

THE Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-ibig) will be having a joint land developing project with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Land Registration Authority (LRA) for the displaced persons of the Marawi siege worth P10 billion.

Pag-ibig Mindanao Housing Development Officer-In-Charge Cesar Bazan, in a press conference, said Pag-ibig Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy Moti discussed the plan in a recent meeting with the concerned agencies seeing it as the biggest assistance they can provide for the victims.

The housing units of the project, he said, will be through Pag-ibig housing loan with three percent interest for P12,000 and below income earners while six percent for P13,000 and above.

All houses will be worth P450,000 to cater to the members with minimum salary range.

"We can assess if the applicant is really from Marawi City as their records are inside our computer system," he said.

For non-members, Bazan assured them that they can still avail as they can register with Pag-ibig anytime.

In the plan's framework, Bazan said NHA will start the rehabilitation by doing a land assessment inside Marawi City once the conflict inside will ease down and the government military troops will allow them to enter.

"Most of the land in Marawi do not have titles so after the assessment LRA will then process the documents of ownership of the land by which the construction of the houses by NHA will immediately follow," he said.

The number of houses, he said, will be dependent on the land area assessed and numbers of Pag-ibig members who are living in Marawi City.

Meanwhile, Bazan said Pag-ibig has also started the assessment of those members who need financial assistance for the renovation of their houses due to the damage caused by the ongoing firefight inside Marawi City.

"Our rehabilitation construction loan will guarantee each minimum earners P150,000 without interest for the first six months upon receiving the money. At the 24th month, the normal charging rates and interests will be expected," he said.

Bazan assured the affected settlers in Marawi City that Pag-ibig and other concerned agencies will be doing more affordable housing projects soon to help the city recover from the siege.
