AN Indonesian construction firm has expressed interest in expanding its operations to Davao City.

Indonesian Consul General Berlian Napitupulu said Tuesday, April 24, that Audie Building Industry has sent a proposal to the Department of Trade and Industry and has already made discussions with the National Housing Authority.

Napitupulu conducted a media briefing on Indonesian culture, tourism, and economic promotion at the Consulate General Republic of Indonesia in Ecoland on Tuesday.

“Actually, the company was asked by NHA to make a presentation with engineers here and engineers asked the company to get certification from Philippines’ ambassador to Jakarta and the embassy already sent a letter saying they are a bona fide Indonesian company,” he said.

Audie Building Industry is a giant construction industry player in Indonesia and is operating in several other countries like Fiji, Vanuatu and Nauru.

“The company is very keen on expanding operations to other countries,” Napitupulu said.

The consul general added that the company’s concern is if there really is a market in Philippines, particularly Davao City.

“I told them that Philippines is embarking on massive construction projects (through Build Build Build program), so it is best to come in here now,” he said.
