Decision of Bizarre match handed today

THE decision of the controversial ending of the Governors Cup 2018 Basketball Tournament game between division rivals Naga Electrifiers and Minglanilla Archangels will be out today.

Cebu Provincial Sports Commission executive director Atty. Ramil Abing told SunStar Cebu that their decision on the bizarre ending of the Monday night South Division Bracket 1 game between Naga and Minglanilla at the Enan Chiong Activity Center in Naga City will be made public today.

Naga walked away with a controversial 93-91 win over defending champion Mingalanilla after a buzzer-beating three pointer by Justin Atilano with 0.7 second left in the game.

The game was hounded with controversy after a review of the video showed that Naga fielded six players in that final play.

Mark Vhic Delantes led Naga with 26 points, while Keith Rainer had 17 and Gerald Flores added 11 for the Electrifiers. Steve Nash Enriquez had a monster game of 30 points, while Mark Justin Nebril added 20.

Talisay City won against Carcar City, 88-82, in the other Bracket 1 game.

In other games last Monday night, Alcoy squeaked past Dalaguete, 65-64, in South Division Bracket 2 at the Dalaguete Municipal Gym.

Hance Kevin Estrera had 17 points to lead Alcoy.

Sibonga edged out Boljoon, 68-67, in the other South Division Bracket 2 game.

John Bryle Cuyos exploded for 26 points to lead Sibonga.

Meanwhile on the North end, Balamban beat Bogo City, 79-73, in Bracket 3 at the Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports Complex in Bogo City Jacob Fernendez scored 17 points to lead Bogo City.

Tabogon defeated Asturias, 77-64, while Tuboran thrashed Tabuelam, 88-68.

Three games will be played tomorrow in the North Division Bracket 1 at the Tabuelan Municipal Gym. There will also be two matches of the South Division Bracket 2 at the San Fernando Gym, and another two games played at the Sibonga Municipal Gym in the South Division Bracket 3. (EKA)
