DTI-Davao Region aided 8K MSMEs from Jan-June

AS OF the first half of the year, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao Region has recorded to have assisted a total of 8,335 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), already reaching 72 percent of their target for 2017.

In the 2017 semester report provided by the DTI-Davao Region Management Support Services Unit, the department recorded the month of March as the highest number of assisted MSMEs at 3,883. There were 854 MSMEs assisted on April, 1,391 in May, and 2,207 in June.

For the end of the year, they target to assist 11,500 MSMEs, both new and existing enterprises.

The data also revealed that out of 8,335 MSMEs, 2,734 of these are newly registered and 974 are unregistered new businesses. About 1,781 existing registered businesses and 815 existing unregistered businesses were also assisted by DTI.

As the number of assisted MSME continues to increase towards the target of 11,500 MSMEs, the number of Negosyo Centers established in the region has increased as well. DTI Davao Regional Director Maria Belenda Ambi earlier pointed out that this is one of the reasons why the MSME assistance increased.

For the year, there are already 25 Negosyo Centers, keeping up with the year’s target of 36. Their semester report also states that a good 42 percent of the businesses, or about 1,500 businesses registering through Negosyo Centers are getting registered within 15 days only.
