3 Cuadra rob group members released

THREE suspected members of the Arnold “Aki” Cuadra's organized robbery group were released from detention two weeks ago due to the failure of complainants to cooperate in the filing of case within the reglementary period.

Last August 18, Johnnie Villarete, 31, Alvin Jimenez, 25, and Paul Martin, 22, were arrested in a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Bata after they were involved in a robbery incident in Silay City and a series of robbery incidents in Bacolod City.

Robbery charges were filed against them but they were released from police custody after the cases were not filed under inquest proceedings, and they have also posted bail for their other cases.

Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said these suspects can have the chance to strike again.
Wanky urged complainants to fully cooperate to support the prosecution of the arrested perpetrators.

Some face charges but during the court hearings, victims failed to attend, which may also lead to the dismissal of the case, he added.

Wanky said these suspects or the other members of Cuadra’s group were the perpetrators behind the series of recent hold-up incidents in the city this month.

The suspects would usually use a vehicle to commit the crime, but robbers recently use only motorcycles.

Wanky said another member of Cuadra's group, Alex Barredo, is also under the watch of BCPO.

Barredo was involved in a shooting incident victimizing a barker and an alleged drug runner in Barangay 23 last Tuesday. He was also involved in illegal drugs and robbery incidents in the city and neighboring city of Silay.
