Coop manager shot, robbed in Bukidnon

AUTHORITIES have charged three suspects after shooting and robbing a cooperative manager on Monday, April 23, in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Suspects identified as Rolly Bazares, Daniel Buyan and Oliver Saluday, residents of Agusan del Norte areas, were charged with robbery and illegal possession of explosives.

Investigation showed that the victim, Medardo Sajonia, withdrew some P5 million from the bank Monday afternoon, and put it inside a bag.

Two of the suspects onboard a motorcycle were waiting for him outside their office.

The suspects shot the victim when Sajonia refused to give the money. He sustained lone gunshot wound on his stomach and was rushed to the hospital.

Senior Inspector Julius Saluta, investigation officer of Malaybalay City Police Office, said the victim is now in stable condition.

Saluta said the suspects fled the area and were chased by the authorities.

The suspects abandoned the motorcycle after they were cornered by the police and another Toyota Revo vehicle with two more people onboard picked them up and escaped.

"Gigukod nato ang mga suspek gikan sa Malaybalay hangtod nadakpan sa Sumilao (We chased the suspects from Malaybalay City until they were apprehended in Sumilao town),"Saluta said.

One of the suspects evaded the arrest while some P3 million was recovered by the authorities. Police also seized three hand grenades from the suspects.

Saluta said the suspects are also responsible of another robbery incident in Cagayan de Oro City few weeks ago.

"Bag-o pa daw ni sila pero paspas ilang operation (They are a new group but their operations are fast)," Saluta said.

The investigation officer said robbery is bailable while illegal possession of explosives is a non-bailable offense.
