Farinas confirms BBL bill underway

HOUSE Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Farinas confirmed Thursday that the Malacanang-approved Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) bill will be filed at the House of Representative next week.

The bill, drafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Committee, is expected to be certified as "urgent" by the Palace following Wednesday's Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (Ledac)

"We will file next week the bill for the BBL submitted by the BTC. The President informed us that he will leave to the wisdom of the Congress the final version of the BBL," Fariñas told reporters via text message.

During the 16th Congress, the BBL met opposition from different quarters following "mistrust" caused by the bloody operation of Philippine National Police's elite cops and Moro rebels.

But upon President Rodrigo Duterte's election, he vowed that his term will see "just and lasting peace" in Mindanao, where he was a native. (SunStar Philippines)
