Addu graduate lands in Top 3 of 2017 Bar exams

A GRADUATE of Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) College of Law topped the November 2017 Bar Examinations after garnering a grade of 90.7 percent.

Lawyer Camille B. Remoroza placed third based on the results and list of passers released yesterday by the Supreme Court.

In a press conference yesterday at Addu-Jacinto Campus, Remoroza said she was overwhelmed by the results of the bar exam.

"I never expected to be in the top 10, all the more top 3. I am still overwhelmed by the result," she said.

Remoroza said placing third in the bar exams is a cherry on top as she initially aimed to simply pass the exam.

However, it was her friends and family who continued to encourage her to aim for the top.

Remoroza said she followed a strict schedule and applied lots of discipline while preparing for the bar exams.

Meanwhile, Mark John M. Simondo from the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City, Negros Oriental landed in the first place with a score of 91.05 percent followed by Christianne Mae C. Balili from the University of San Carlos in Cebu who received a rating of 90.80 percent.

The Top 10 also include Ivan D’laureil I. Hisoler of the University of San Carlos (89.55 percent); Monica Anne T. Yap from San Beda College – Manila (89.45 percent); Lorenzo Luigi T. Gayya from the University of Sto. Tomas (89.10 percent); Rheland S. Servacio of the University of San Carlos (89 percent); Krizza Fe P. Alcantara-Bagni from St. Mary’s University and Algie Kwillon B. Mariacos of San Beda College – Manila (88.9 percent); Klinton M. Torralba of the University of Sto. Tomas (88.65 percent); and Emma Ruby J. Aguilar of the University of Sto. Tomas (88.40 percent).

A total of 1,724 examinees passed the Bar exam out of the 6,748 Law graduates who took the examinations held at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on four Sundays of November 2017.

Addu president Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J. congratulated Remoroza for her outstanding performance.

He also commended Dean Manny Quibod of the Addu College of Law for their huge passing rate.

Out of 46 examinees from Addu, 38 or 82.61 percent passed.

The Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao (OMB-Min) also commended and congratulated Remoroza.

OMB-Min deputy ombudsman Rodolfo Elman said Remoroza joined OMB-Mindanao last February.

"When she applied, I saw in her the qualities that the office seeks in an applicant," said Elman, who was among Remoroza’s professors in Addu College of Law.

Elman said more than her outstanding academic credentials, it is Remoroza’s character, with her humility, simplicity and innate goodness that made an impression.

Remoroza is the third bar topnotcher to join OMB-Min in the past four years after Rosemil R. Bañaga and Gil E. Garcia II, who both placed fourth in the 2011 and 2014 Bar Exams, respectively.

Bañaga and Garcia are Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officers (GIPO) II who joined the OMB-Min office in 2015.
