As temp rises, CH prepares for water shortage

BARANGAYS in Cebu City that do not have enough potable water supply this dry season can tap the City Government to help augment the supply in their areas.

This, as the Department of Public Services (DPS) offered to repair for free the privately owned artesian wells in the city to make sure there will be enough water in the villages.

DPS Chief Roberto Cabarrubias said they have started distributing water to upland areas where limited water supply is a concern throughout the year.

So far, Barangays Busay and Adlaon have already availed themselves of the free water supply from the City.

“All they have to do is to make a request here in City Hall and DPS will supply them with water,” Cabarrubias said.

Residents of the city may call 411-0100 local 306 to ask for water to be delivered to their community.

Although he can assure that there is no water crisis yet, Cabarrubias noted that water sources like the springs in the mountain villages have started to dry up due to the heat, prompting him to call on the public to conserve water.

As part of the Tubig project of DPS, some of their personnel will also repair defective artesian wells.

Cabarrubias said that doing so will help prevent a shortage as their owners will not need to source water elsewhere. (RVC)
