More colorums caught; no space to impound

WITH the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) strengthening their drive to apprehend colorum vehicles in the region, the next problem they have to face is the space to store the vehicles.

As of the moment, both share an impounding area in Sitio Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.

Director Ahmed Cuizon said they have apprehended several colorum vehicles in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor, and the number is increasing but they have no impounding area at present.

The rules and regulations specifically under the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) No. 2014-001 states that any apprehended colorum vehicle must be impounded for at least 90 days. This is aside from the fine of more than P200,000 per violation.

Cuizon said they are now rushing the creation of an impounding area in Carcar City, which can store all apprehended vehicles from the entire Region 7. (EOB)
